A Green Campaign in the Corridors of the Presidency of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, with the Participation of University President Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi and University Leadership
Women’s Affairs Division Translates the University’s Environmental Protection Role into a Field Initiative
In a scene reflecting the spirit of institutional responsibility and environmental concern, the Women’s Affairs Division at the Presidency of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University organized a tree-planting campaign in the corridors and surroundings of the University Presidency, with the participation of University President Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, the Scientific Assistant Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Wadai, and a number of deans of the university’s formations and department directors. The campaign aimed to enhance green spaces and instil a culture of environmental preservation within the university institution.
The campaign involved the planting of a number of trees and plants in the corridors of the University Presidency, with active participation from university leadership in an initiative that combined institutional action with environmental practice. It presented a practical model of the importance of concerted efforts in supporting initiatives that contribute to improving the university environment and rendering it more beautiful and sustainable.
The Women’s Affairs Division affirmed that the campaign falls within the activities implemented under the axes of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women, particularly those relating to enhancing the role of women in environmental protection and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development. It further noted that the selection of the University Presidency corridors for the implementation of the campaign embodies the importance of translating environmental principles and orientations into tangible practices within the university environment, in addition to disseminating awareness of the importance of afforestation owing to its impact on improving the urban landscape, supporting the environment, and reinforcing the sense of belonging and responsibility towards the place.
The campaign witnessed positive interaction on the part of the participants, as the participation of the University President, deans of formations, and department directors contributed to reinforcing the message carried by the initiative — namely, that the university is not merely an institution for education and scientific research, but an active partner in building a society conscious of environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
This initiative comes within a series of activities implemented by the Women’s Affairs Division at the University Presidency, aimed at activating the axes of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women through programmes and initiatives of practical and societal impact, and at enhancing the presence of women and their role in developmental and environmental issues.
